I’ve been a salesperson for some time and during those years of graft and strife I have learned. The single most important thing, is the game is easier if you have absolute faith and belief in your product. Building a relationship with the client and emphasizing with their current situation goes a long way to making the sale. There are so many sales opportunities out there. You will never be out of a job in the sales industry. Simple fact…
Businesses need to sell!
Anyways, I like to sell in the building trade because:
– There are not many sales professionals in the building industry. This means the competition is limited to Builders and contractors who have no prior experience of selling – The product is always in demand, people love to buy houses and independently, individual homes seem to always be a sought after product in this country
The opportunity for creativity and development of the product is always there.
A self build home is one of the most important things a person will buy in their live so I am helping people succeed in their dreams
I get to meet new people everyday
The commission is high because it is a high ticket product, many thousands can be earned from 1 sale!
The company that I am working with at the moment in Falmouth is allowing me the freedom to choose my own hours, work from home and create my own ideas for the prospect. The team is great to work with so all in all its a very nice job to have.
So over the last few weeks, actually it could be months really, time really does fly. I have been presenting a product that I have never sold before. It is spray foam insulation that is an alternative to fibre glass and rock wool, which is the traditional way of insulating your roof. Since 1935 when fibre glass was patented the building regulations has approved the use of potentially damaging fibre glass insulation for properties in the UK.
But for at least 20 years, in the USA, the preferred way to insulate a home has been to use spray foam insulation. This is far more effective and has many benefits over the old technology. The main difference is where the stuff is actually applied. It is sprayed up into the rafters and roof space. As opposed to insulating at the ceiling level of the property and laying down fibre glass on the floor.
This has many advantages mainly because you are creating an air tight seal stopping the cold, dew and damp coming in. You are stopping the wind blow rain underneath the tiles and into your house. Insulation products in Cornwall have been very limited so it is exciting to educate and introduce people to this new idea. (Although it is not new!)
So far, although I had my doubts, it has been a raring success and I have signed up quite a few people with a high conversion rate.
The problem has been the marketing. They just have been able to get me reliable volume of people to go and see.
